OVERVIEW OF BETTER BILLY BUNKERS

As you have seen this fall we are working on the 5 bunkers we are renovating in an effort to display the newest and best technology in golf course bunker renovation.  We are doing the Better Billy system.  We have cored out the sand, inspected and repaired the tile, and are preparing to install the rock base this week.  We are renovating the three front green side bunkers on hole 3, and two green side bunkers on 9 green.

There will be some great news in the upcoming newsletter so stay tuned.  There are big improvements on the horizon for Staley Farms Golf Club.

STAY OFF OF THE ICE

I have posted a video with a golfer hitting a golf shot from the ice.  It doesn't end well for him.  We have water on the course that freezes this time of year and it might be tempting to walk out on the frozen ice to retrieve, or hit a golf ball from the surface.  We live in a climate that it is never safe to walk on our iced lakes and ponds.  We do not allow fishing, recreational activities, or anyone walking on our iced ponds.  It is not safe ever.

We have been informed that home owners have seen people walking on the ice this week.  Nobody is allowed on the ice.  We are going to post signs and we appreciate your cooperation.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Repairing ball marks is one of the easiest things a golfer can do to improve golf course conditioning.  Use this video to learn the proper way to repair ball marks on the greens.

I found a few videos that explain the 90 degree cart rule.  We appreciate your cooperation.  This will help us provide high quality playing conditions for all to enjoy.  Note that it is different than most Zoysia courses.  Zoysia is a warm season turf that withstands heat, drought, and traffic much better than cool season turf.  Our entire golf course is cool season turf that is more delicate.  This is the reason for the 90 degree rule.  We use the 90 degree rule all season.  If we are off the path the 90 degree rule is in place.

CURB APPEAL

We have been transforming our clubhouse beds to decorative rock. I prefer the look and cost effectiveness of rock. We spend money each year on mulch that blows out of the beds and fades quickly.

We hope you like the improvements.
